UIC MHA Mission, Vision, and Values

Mission Statement

The University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) Master of Healthcare Administration (MHA) program, including residential and executive tracks, is based in the School of Public Health (SPH). We aim to develop entry and experienced healthcare professionals who will become exemplary healthcare leaders through a rigorous program in healthcare management education that reflects the principles of public health. Recruitment of students demonstrating academic excellence, commitment to addressing the social determinants of health, improving health services delivery, and reflecting our communities' racial and cultural diversity will be the targeted population that facilitates the achievement of our mission.

Experiential learning guides the principle of our educational philosophy.  Students obtain foundational knowledge in healthcare management through a curriculum designed to provide competencies aligned with the health industry. We incorporate theories and practice into the curriculum based upon faculty research and practitioner experience to ensure the curriculum remains current with industry.

This educational model prepares our residential track students for fellowships and entry-level management positions with high growth potential in health and hospital systems, medical group management, healthcare insurance, and consulting.  The executive track's managers and clinical leaders further benefit from a multidisciplinary learning environment where shared experiences and perspectives launch professionals toward high-impact senior positions.
