Confronting Chronic Stress and Burnout in Healthcare

COVID-19 has deepened every fault-line in society and especially in our healthcare systems. One of the core challenges is the enormous burden placed on a clinical workforce that was already facing unprecedented levels of stress and burnout. What lessons can we draw from this crisis in order to build a more resilient healthcare system? Quint Studer, a healthcare executive known for strengthening hospitals and healthcare systems, joined SPH's Executive MHA program for a discussion on strategies for the path forward.  Studer recently addressed responding to trauma in healthcare systems in Becker's Hospital Review.

Quint led Holy Cross Hospital in Chicago to Hospitals Magazine’s Great Comeback award and helped Baptist Hospital in Pensacola, Florida, place in the top one percent nationwide in patient and employee satisfaction. After years of working in hospitals, he founded Studer Group in 2000, which earned the Malcolm Baldrige Quality Award in 2010. He currently serves on the board of directors of TriHealth, Hazelden Betty Ford and the Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education.
