Scholarships and Awards

The School of Public Health awards scholarships to students demonstrating significant academic achievements, engagement in research pursuits, and educational interest in different areas of public health. Award announcements, application procedures, and deadlines will be made in the Fall and Spring terms via the SPHNEWS and SPHVIEWS listservs.

Some of these scholarship applications are accessible via the UIC Scholarships and Awards (SNAP) system.  Please note the following instructions:

  1. Finding SPH scholarships in the SNAP system: if you are searching for SPH scholarships in the system, please select “Opportunities”and use the search function and the search term “SPH”. This will generate a list of all SPH scholarships currently in the system.
  2. Applying for scholarships: if you have not done so previously, you will need to complete the general application. For SPH scholarships, you will need to complete an additional application for each specific award.

SPH scholarships generally require a letter of recommendation from a faculty member. The SNAP system allows you to enter the name and email address of the faculty member providing your letter. Please be sure to reach out to the faculty member before you enter their name in the system. Please be careful to correctly enter the faculty member’s email address.

If you encounter an issue with applying to an SPH scholarship, please contact John Slavick, School of Public Health Assistant Dean for Student Affairs, at
