Maternal and Child Health PhD Scholar Heading link
Each year, a PhD student from the Community Health Sciences Division who chooses to pursue a doctoral degree that focuses on the health and well-being of women, children, or families is selected as a Maternal and Child Health PhD Scholar. The division defines Maternal and Child Health broadly to include the health of women not only related to reproductive health and child-bearing. These students are chosen carefully by a faculty committee on the basis of their research interests, accomplishments and passion for Maternal and Child Health.
Scholars receive a stipend in the range of $2,000 – $5,000, mentoring from Maternal and Child Health faculty, leadership coaching and funding for travel to conferences and other relevant meetings.
Information about this opportunity will be sent to all students who are accepted into the Maternal and Child Health concentration. Students interested in consideration for the award should contact Gabriella Masini at coemch@uic.edu. Students’ SOPHAS applications will be reviewed for consideration, and no further application is needed. Selected students will be invited to participate in an interview process.
