Student Funding

All students admitted to the Master of Public Health in Maternal and Child Health program are considered trainees.  Trainees are eligible for the following funding opportunities:

  • 3 Irving Harris Scholars Awards are given to first-year MPH students (comes with a tuition waiver and an hourly RA position), awarded annually
  • 2 MPH Maternal and Child Health Scholars earn one-time awards ranging from $2000 to $4000, awarded annually to incoming students
  • Smaller Maternal and Child Health Stipends that all MCH and MCHEPI trainees can apply for each semester. These awards typically range from $500-$2500.
  • Travel Awards to attend professional development opportunities that all MCH and MCHEPI trainees can apply for continuously throughout the year.

Information about this opportunity will be sent to all students who are accepted into the Maternal and Child Health concentration. Students interested in consideration for the award should contact Gabriella Masini at coemch@uic.edu.  Students’ SOPHAS applications will be reviewed for consideration, and no further application is needed.  Selected students will be invited to participate in an interview process.

Scholars are required to complete leadership and work requirements.

Maternal and Child Health Stipends are available to all trainees, who can apply for stipends each semester. These awards typically range from $500-$2500.  Applications will be emailed to current students.
