About

Dr. Seweryn (severin) is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Epidemiology and Biostatistics Division and is core faculty in the DrPH in Leadership Program, where he currently serves as the Associate Director. His teaching includes courses in applied quantitative research methods, applied biostatistics for leadership practice and courses in dissertation research readiness. Dr. Seweryn began teaching at SPH in the fall of 2012 His research interests are in the areas of public health epidemiology, surveillance, quality improvement, performance management and workforce development.

Dr. Seweryn has 30 years of experience in local and state public health practice. Until December 2016, he served as the deputy director of public health programs at Cook County Department of Public Health, overseeing community epidemiology, health planning, chronic disease prevention, health promotion and lead poisoning prevention. He has extensive experience in communicable disease control, public health surveillance and community health assessment and planning.
