About
I am a social and behavioral scientist who uses mixed methods with the goal of reducing health inequities that emerge from experiences in early childhood. I am particularly interested in (1) understanding and addressing the multi-level factors influencing feeding and parenting practices during the first two years of life, and (2) leveraging formative research to develop feasible and acceptable interventions to improve responsive parenting. My recent work in Chicago has focused on adapting a play-based early child development intervention for Latine families receiving care at Esperanza Health Centers. I also currently collaborate on statewide initiatives in partnership with the Illinois Department of Public Health, including the Title V Maternal and Child Health Block Grant needs assessment and the evaluation of the Illinois Breast and Cervical Cancer Program. Prior research investigated determinants of infant formula use in Peru and the effectiveness of behavior change communication strategies for improving infant and young child feeding in Tanzania.
