About

I am a health care management researcher focused on how alcohol use and alcohol use disorder (AUD) are addressed in health care settings, particularly among adults with chronic medical conditions and with an eye towards equitable access and quality of care. I strive to produce research that will result in better harnessing of the health care delivery system’s resources to reduce alcohol-related harms, be it through changes to organizational structures, clinical workflows, or governmental policies. My current work has three major themes: 1) developing and evaluating payment and service delivery innovations that will increase identification of unhealthy alcohol use in health care settings and engagement in AUD treatment services; 2) identifying organizational and provider characteristics linked with the provision of quality alcohol-related care in health care settings; 3) clarifying the role of alcohol use in the management and progression of chronic conditions.
