About

Kayla T. Moore (she/her) is a PhD student in Community Health Sciences at the School of Public Health. Her research interests broadly include the integration of qualitative research methods into the study of health outcomes in historically underrepresented populations, and examining clinical research participation by people of historically excluded and underrepresented groups. Since 2020, she has managed outreach and community engagement efforts to the greater Chicagoland community at the Institute for Population and Precision Health at the University of Chicago. She has also previously worked at Northwestern University, Chicago Public Schools Office of Student Health and Wellness, and the UIC Department of Biological Sciences.

Kayla received a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree at the UIC School of Public Health and received a BA in Biological Sciences at the University of Chicago. She was previously inducted into the Delta Omega Honorary Society in Public Health, received a Chancellor’s Student Service Award, as well as an Urban Health Program Student Achievement Award. Outside of work and school, Kayla is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated and a dancer with Muntu Dance Theatre of Chicago. Born and raised on the Southside of Chicago, she currently resides in the historic Bronzeville neighborhood.
