About
Michael Mercado recently joined The Collaboratory for Health Justice in September 2021 as a Graduate Research Assistant for ChiTracing. Michael earned his Bachelor's degree in Health Administration from Xavier University in Cincinnati, OH. During his undergraduate studies, Michael had the opportunity to conduct and publish research concerning opioid treatment admissions in Cincinnati and how treatment times varied by race/ethnicity. He also held the position of Care Coordination Specialist at the AIDS Foundation of Chicago, where he directly assisted individuals who are HIV positive with multiple medical challenges including health insurance enrollments and applying for medication assistance programs. Michael is looking forward to continuing his work in the field of HIV/AIDS, infectious diseases, and substance use within the Latinx community. Michael is a first year MPH-Epidemiology student at the UIC School of Public Health.
