About
Aminah is a public health doctoral student in the Community Health Science department. She received her Bachelor's in history and sociology from the University at Buffalo (2016). Her honors history thesis was entitled "Race, Religion, and the Fountain of Youth: A Critical Examination of Intergenerational Experiences in the Social History of Orthodox African American Muslims in Western New York: 1965-2005"
She completed her Master's of Public Health (2018) in Community Health and Health Behavior from the University at Buffalo as well. Her Master's thesis was entitled "Mental Health Consequences of Social Stigma and Isolation as a Result of Delayed Marriage in Muslim-American Women: A Research Proposal"
Her research interests include mixed methods, community-based participatory research focusing on the mental health of racial and ethnic minority groups and the intersection of resilience, hope, religion, and health for racial, ethnic, and religious minority groups.
She currently works as a research assistant for Dr. Uchechi Mitchell in the Health Equity and Aging Lab (HEAL).
