About
I am an experienced public health professional with a demonstrated history of working in an interdisciplinary environment in local government to implement policy, systems and environmental changes. In my most recent role I served as the Program Manager over the Community Health Division at the Unified Government Public Health Department (UGPHD) in Kansas City, KS. I played a key role in the oversight, coordination and successful execution of seven grant-funded community initiatives aimed at enhancing public health in Wyandotte County. These programs consisted of the local community health improvement plan, community infrastructure, chronic disease risk reduction initiatives, violence prevention strategies, substance use efforts and health education and promotion. I also assisted staff with grant budgeting and management, approved expenditures and ensured completion of grant reports and objectives. Prior to this role, I served as the Tobacco Program Coordinator at the UGPHD implementing tobacco control and prevention initiatives. Through this role, I convened and facilitated community coalitions, managed three state health department grant work plans focused on adult cessation and youth prevention and engaged diverse stakeholders to advance tobacco policy efforts. I worked closely with community stakeholders to train youth advocate groups and improve tobacco screening and referral practices at local safety net clinics.. My passion lies in establishing interdisciplinary partnerships to address complex health equity issues affected by the social determinants of health.
