Public Health Concerns and Anti-Racism Protests

SPH's Uchechi Mitchell, PhD, assistant professor of community health sciences, was interviewed by Public Radio International for its program "The World" on support for anti-racism protests among public health professionals during the COVID-19 pandemic.  Mitchell noted the efforts to fight the pandemic and racism are intertwined.

Nobody’s ignoring the fact that we have this virus that’s plaguing our communities. But this is a pandemic, it starts and kind of has an end. Whereas racism has been here for generations upon generations upon generations, and we’re still fighting for this end.
