Nationwide Protests and COVID-19

Dr. Ron Hershow, professor of epidemiology, was interviewed by the Associated Press on protests across the country over the murder of George Floyd and the impact of mass gatherings on the COVID-19 pandemic.  In Chicago and Cook County, Hershow noted the absolute caseload is still high but the number of cases has been descending.

Racism kills.  Sometimes that’s direct, as in the case of George Floyd. And sometimes it’s through a virus like COVID-19.
