In the News: Lee Friedman
Lee Friedman, associate professor of environmental and occupational health sciences in the University of Illinois at Chicago School of Public Health, is quoted in an article in Chicago Medicine on trauma care. Friedman co-authored a study in 2017 that looked at how trauma patients are brought to hospitals in the Chicago area. The research looked at nearly 10,000 cases in Cook County from 2009 through 2013, a period during which the area had 19 Level 1 and 2 trauma centers.
“Despite that, 30% of the people were still ending up in facilities that did not have a trauma team,” said Friedman.
