Faculty Communication – March 11, 2020
Introduction
We do not yet have specific guidance at UIC, but SPH faculty should prepare to teach courses online as early as next week. We are working to schedule two in person workshops on Blackboard Collaborate here at SPH before the end of this week. Blackboard Collaborate can be used for recording lectures for asynchronous classes or to hold synchronous classes. We are anticipating that most faculty who are not currently teaching online will elect to do asynchronous teaching through Blackboard.
If there are other online tools that you are comfortable with, you can use them if you choose.
We are going to be setting up a buddy system and working with the divisions to pair experienced online teachers with those who will need support.
I will be sending out a survey to better assess our resources and needs.
As soon as we have more information, I'll share it with you.
I appreciate everyone's willingness to work together and support their colleagues and our students at this extraordinary time.

Associate Dean for Academic Affairs
