Ethylene Oxide for PPE Sterilization?
SPH's Dr. Susan Buchanan, clinical associate professor of environmental and occupational health sciences and director of the Great Lakes Center for Children's Environmental Health, was interviewed by Grist on the usage of facilities emitting ethylene oxide to sterilize personal protective equipment during the COVID-19 pandemic. Buchanan noted preliminary studies have highlighted risks to residents living near these plants.
