Emergency Preparedness Expert Analyzes 911 Challenges

Some 911 systems across the country were designed before the use of cell phones and the outdated technology makes some centers unable to accurately pinpoint a caller's location.  Paul Sambanis, adjunct assistant professor of environmental and occupational health sciences at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) School of Public Health, was interviewed by CNN analyzing the steps that need to be taken to fix these problems.

Sambanis is an instructor in the School's Public Health Geographic Information Systems certificate program and the Emergency Management and Continuity Planning certificate program.
