Abstract

The mission of our Roybal Center renewal continues to be accelerating the translation of basic behavioral and social science research theories and methodologies into practical outcomes that improve the functioning and quality of life of older adults.  As part of this mission, this renewal Center will sponsor, facilitate and monitor the translation of research that will advance scientific knowledge in three areas of thematic focus.  The areas of research focus are: - the development of novel behavior change interventions to promote adaptive aging with a particular focus on cognition; - translational research on the malleability of biobehavioral risk mechanisms associated with adverse outcomes into novel interventions that can reverse or compensate for these risks, and - interventions that target features of social networks and social engagement to increase well-being among older adults.
