About
Sandra Avelar is a research assistant for the UIC Community Engagement Core of CACHET. She obtained her bachelor’s degree from UIC where she majored in biological sciences. As an undergrad, she began working on the Greater Lawndale Healthy Work Project where she quickly became interested in CBPR, community outreach and engagement. She is currently a second year MPH student in the community health sciences division where she hopes to adopt public health practices and lens in the fight for health equity in primary care facilities.
