About
I am a health care management researcher focused on access to quality care for substance use, particularly unhealthy alcohol use. Currently, a substantial portion of my work focuses on improving integration of addiction services into primary care and other health care settings. This work has three major themes: 1) investigating payment and delivery innovations that can increase screening for unhealthy alcohol and substance use and patient engagement in treatment services; 2) identifying organizational and provider characteristics linked with the delivery of quality alcohol and substance-related care in health care settings; and 3) clarifying the role of alcohol use in the management of chronic conditions, with an eye towards identifying underutilized venues for intervention (e.g. cardiology care settings). I am also interested in recovery friendly workplaces and characteristics of work, organizations, and teams that are supportive of substance use treatment seeking, treatment retention, and recovery.
