Dr. Cliff researches topics related to how incentives affect consumer behavior and spending in the medical system. Her studies have looked at low-value care, benefit design, provider prices, and price transparency initiatives. Currently, she working on projects related to spending and utilization of medical services under innovative benefit designs, provider responses to price transparency initiatives, and an evaluation of cost sharing Michigan's Medicaid program. She has used both quantitative and qualitative methods in research, though primarily focuses on using econometric techniques to identify relevant policy effects.
