Ashley Bieniek-Tobasco, DrPH

Dr. Ashley Bieniek-Tobasco is a Research Assistant Professor in the Division of Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences at University of Illinois at Chicago, School of Public Health. Her research focuses on climate change communication including understanding mechanisms of impact and evaluation of climate media programming. She is interested in climate and risk communication in the media and climate science policy and decision making.
Prior to joining UIC, Dr. Bieniek-Tobasco was a contractor (through ICF) at the U.S. Global Change Research Program (USGCRP) where she facilitated the integration of international, health and social sciences-related activities across USGCRP, coordinated interagency research in the area of health and social sciences and supported the development of the Fourth National Climate Assessment.
Dr. Bieniek-Tobasco has a BS in Evolutionary Anthropology and an MPH in Environmental Health Science from the University of Michigan. She also has a DrPH in Environmental and Occupational Health from the George Washington University Milken Institute School of Public Health where her dissertation research focused on assessing responses to climate communications through mass media.
