MPH student, Elizabeth Dinovis is awardee of two scholarships; the Estelle Goldstein Memorial Scholarship, and the Viron L. Diefenbach award for excellence in student research. Elizabeth was also granted entry to the Delta Omega Society.
PhD student, Sabrina Young was awarded a predoctoral traineeship in the Cancer Education and Career Development Program at Institute for Health Research and Policy at the University of Illinois at Chicago. The Cancer Education and Career Development Program prepares promising new scholars to conduct research in the critical field of cancer disparities. Congratulations, Sabrina!
PhD student, Nancy Hedlund has been selected as the awardee of the Fall 2016 Estelle Goldstein Memorial Scholarship Award. This scholarship is presented annually to an SPH graduate student with a demonstrated financial need, with preference given to students whose educational interests focus on issues surrounding aging and gerontology and/or students returning after the age of forty. MPH student, Karen Aguirre has been selected as the awardee of the Fall 2016 Scrimshaw Family Latino Health Scholarship Award. This scholarship is presented annually to an SPH graduate student of Latino/Hispanic origin or descent, who self-identify as Latino, and/or whose area of study focuses on improving the health of the Latino/Hispanic population. This award reflects the decades of research and service former Dean Susan C. Scrimshaw and her family have dedicated to improving the health of Hispanic and Latino families in the Americas. In April, Professor Swaraman presented to the American Board of Allergy and Immunology on the Medicare and Chip Reauthorization Act of 2015 (Macra). At Becker’s Hospital Review he presented “Transition Support: The Business Case for Patient Navigation” and co-presented on a panel which covered “Key Thoughts on Great Physician Relationships”
