The Samuel A. Goldsmith Award, now in its 24th year, is awarded to exceptional young professionals who have shown outstanding performance in their work at a Jewish agency in the Chicago area. This year’s award was presented to Tejal Patel, for the work she has done at Sinai Health System to provide the best patient care to communities that were hardest hit by the pandemic. Tejal is the System Director for Inpatient Pharmacy & Respiratory Services at Sinai Health System

Chicago is one of the major healthcare markets within the United States where many healthcare professional associations are based such as the American Hospital Association, American Medical Association, and the American College of Healthcare Executives. Additionally, the city is home to nationally prominent academic health centers and several of the largest healthcare systems in the country. This provides an outstanding opportunity to network with healthcare professionals and to find rewarding job opportunities within the robust healthcare market.
Our master’s students through their preceptorships and networking opportunities provided by the program typically start their careers in new jobs before commencement. The placement rate for our graduates for 2020 graduates was 95 percent.

Mark Rosenblatt, MD, PhD, MBA, MHA is the Executive Dean at the University of Illinois College of Medicine and serves as the Illinois Lions/Charles I. Young Chair, and Professor of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at the University of Illinois at Chicago. He is an internationally recognized clinician-scientist. As Director of the Corneal Regenerative Medicine Laboratory, he leads groups of scientists investigating corneal nerve regeneration, and the use of nanoengineered biomaterials for use in stem cell delivery. His work has been funded by the National Institutes of Health, the Department of Defense, Research to Prevent Blindness, and the Falk Family Foundation. Dr. Rosenblatt has published widely, including over 150 original manuscripts, review articles, book chapters, and abstracts.
