The World Doctors Orchestra (WDO), an internationally acclaimed ensemble composed of physicians from across the globe, will bring its extraordinary fusion of music and medicine to Chicago this September for performances dedicated to advancing global health initiatives. Proceeds from the concerts will benefit Chi-Care and UIC’s COIP program supporting critical healthcare programs and medical aid efforts for Chicago’s most vulnerable residents.

The Community Outreach Intervention Projects (COIP), in partnership with the UIC School of Public Health, was founded in 1986 to prevent HIV transmission among injection drug users. Since that time COIP has expanded its scope to by implementing client-centered, evidence-based approaches to harm reduction to serve the needs of hard-to-reach substance-using populations and address their health issues at five community-based field offices and through mobile van outreach.

Founded in 2008, the World Doctors Orchestra brings together physicians from more than 60 countries, performing in prestigious venues around the world. Each member is a practicing doctor who voluntarily participates, combining professional excellence in medicine with high-level musicianship.
