Specialization: Health Policy, Management, Community Health Needs Assessment, and Strategic Planning
Richard Sewell is a Clinical Assistant Professor in Health Policy and Administration and the Associate Dean for Community and Public Health Practice at the School of Public Health. He is also a Center Affiliate with the Center for Clinical and Translational Science at UIC. Professor Sewell has an MPH in Health Administration from the University of Oklahoma and Certificates in Finance for Health Executives from Northwestern University and from the Health Executives Development Program at Cornell University. Prior to UIC, he served as the Senior Vice President for the United Way in Chicago, was Executive Director of the Chicago Health Policy Council and Deputy Commissioner of Public Health and Clinical Services at the Chicago Department of Public Health.
Professor Sewell currently teaches HPA 400: Principles in Management of Public Health and HPA 444: Strategic Planning and Budgeting.
