Larry Wrobel is an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Division of Health Policy and Administration within the School of Public Health at UIC. Trained as a pharmacist and having served in various hospital pharmacy administrative roles he obtained his Master Degree in Health Care Administration and refocused his career in general health care administration. He went on to serve in progressively responsible senior management roles in community teaching hospitals, academic health centers and medical group practices. Most recently he served in the role of Chief Operating Officer at the Advocate Medical Group having participated as a key leader in the merger of the health systems four owned physician practices into the largest medical group in the State of Illinois. He received his Doctor of Health Administration degree from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston and has taught in adjunct faculty positions at Governors State University and UIC. His research interests include the impact of health organization acquisitions and mergers on the cost of providing health care to patient populations and the physician economic incentives on the achievement of clinical outcomes. He is a Fellow in the American College of Health Care Executives.
He currently teachers HPA 551: Marketing, HPA 410: Organizational Leadership, and HPA 490: Physician Practice Management.
