Donna Farley Global Health Scholarship

This scholarship will assist graduate students who demonstrate financial need with travel expenses associated with an international Applied Practice Experience. Funds are available to support one to two students at up to $1000 during the AY 2018-2019 year (includes Summer 2019).

The Donna Farley Global Health Scholarship provides funding for graduate students who demonstrate a commitment to global health issues and challenges. It is designed to help defray the travel costs associated with conducting an international MPH Applied Practice Experience, MS thesis research or doctoral research for those who demonstrate financial need. The scholarship will be awarded through a competitive process that is open to all students formally enrolled in the MPH, MS, or PhD degree program in the School of Public Health.

AY 2017-2018

Name: Mehneez Ali
Location: Dhaka, Bangladesh
Project: Mehneez is a first year MPH student in Epidemiology with a Global Health Concentration who will be working with the International Centre for Diarrheoeal Disease Research Bangladesh (icddr,b) in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Mehneez will be exploring the pervasive role of disease in underserved populations and the environmental contexts in which they exist, as well as how interventions must be tailored to the specific needs and circumstances of the people. Mehneez will be identifying potential spill over from animals to humans while evaluating new clinical treatments for human disease.
