Joint/Coordinated Degrees Overview

Through one of our thirteen joint or coordinated degree programs, the School of Public Health offers students the opportunity to earn two graduate degrees concurrently.  Students may complete a Master of Public Health (MPH), Master of Science in Clinical and Translational Science (MS CTS), or Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree along with another degree outside of SPH in a reduced time frame.

Joint/Coordinated Degrees Summary

MA Anthropology/MPH: The Department of Anthropology in the UIC College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and the School of Public Health offer a joint degree program leading to the Master of Arts in Anthropology (MA) and the Master of Public Health (MPH). The program is intended for students planning to continue on to the PhD.  It is offered through the divisions of Community Health Sciences and Epidemiology.

MBA/MPH: UIC’s College of Business Administration and School of Public Health jointly offer students the opportunity to earn a masters of business administration and masters of public health.

MD/MPH: The UIC College of Medicine and the UIC School of Public Health offer a joint degree program leading to the Doctor of Medicine (MD) and Master of Public Health (MPH) degrees.

MS Nursing/MPH: The UIC College of Nursing and the School of Public Health offer a joint degree program leading to the Master of Science (MS) in Nursing with specialization in public health nursing and the Master of Public Health (MPH) with specialization in community health.

MSW/MPH: The UIC School of Public Health (SPH) and Jane Addams College of Social Work (CSW) offer a joint program leading to the Master of Social Work/Master of Public Health (MSW/MPH).

JD/MPH: The UIC School of Public Health and the Chicago-Kent College of Law, Illinois Institute of Technology offer a coordinated program leading to the Juris Doctor (JD) and the Master of Public Health (MPH).

DC/MPH: The UIC School of Public Health and National University of Health Sciences offer a coordinated program leading to the Doctor of Chiropractic (DC) and Master of Public Health (MPH) degrees.

DVM/MPH: The College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) and the UIC School of Public Health offer a joint degree program leading to the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) and Master of Public Health (MPH) degrees.

MD/MS in Clinical and Translational Science: The UIC College of Medicine and UIC School of Public Health's Health and Policy Administration Division offer a joint degree program leading to the Doctor of Medicine (MD) and Master of Science in Clinical and Translational Science (MS CTS) degrees.

MD/PHD: The UIC School of Public Health collaborates with the UIC College of Medicine to offer a joint degree program leading to the Doctor of Medicine (MD) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degrees through the UIC Medical Scientist Training Program.
